"The Wheat and the Tares and the Removal of Sin"

The Wheat (חטה) and the Tares and the removal of sin (חטא)

Our Savior told a parable about the wheat (חטה= CHITTAH) and the tares, which is about the removal of sin (חטא= CHATTAH).  It is not by coincidence that Jewish tradition records the idea that wheat symbolizes the removal of sin, matching our Savior's parable to perfection.  This is found in the Zohar which says, "...wheat is the more perfect food, being symbolic of the elimination of sin..." (Zohar V, 188b).  So it was not by coincidence that Yeshua chose wheat as the object of his lesson about the removal of sin.  At http://www.messiahalive.com/WheatAndTares.wmv you can enjoy a lesson of my discussing the connection between this parable, wheat, and WHY Jewish thought considers it to be connected to the removal of sin and how this view of things helps us understand what the Master Teacher was trying to convey to us in a deeper way than you ever imagined.

Also, there's a connection between the parable of the wheat and the tares (חרול= CHARUL) and the parable of the mustard (חרדל= CHARDAL) seed which immediately follows it in Matthew 13.  Is there a reason other than word-play that the parable of the mustard (חרדל) seed followed the parable of the wheat and the tares (חרול)?  Yes there is, and this is another fascinating concept that I explore at http://www.messiahalive.com/WheatAndTares.wmv .  Click on this link and you'll learn some insights about this parable.  There's a lot to this parable that can only be understood when it is considered in light of Hebrew thought that provides new depth to our understanding of what He was telling us in this message.
