 Numbers 33

 

  The name of the places where Israel journed or camped through the desert has revealing & great significance for our lives. Names in hebrew describe the character of the person and place.  Everyone of them could picture our owm lives.

 

Israel departed from Ramses, the place where they built pyramids, monuments to dead, which was a great preoccupation to the egypcians. The name means thunder of sis and was defeated by God thunder. HE IS THE ALMIGHTY GOD!

but the first Journey started in Succot.

                      Journeys

#1- Succot- Tabernacle. God dwelt among His people preparing them for the journey ahead.

#2- Etam- Strength. The Lord than Strengthen His people for the struggle ahead.

#3-Pi cherout- Mouth of freedom. Then God will lead them to  freedom.

#4- Mara- Bitterness. They use their freedom for rebellion when they looked at the circunstances and forgot that God is in charge. This lead to bitterness, and dead.

#5- Eilim-God himself. "their lider". The Lord had mercy for His people and leas them to a place where He provided for each tribe by itself a made them a blessing for all the nations symbolized by the 70 date trees and the 12 springs of water.

#6- Yam Suf- Sea of the end ( Red Sea ). This is their last stop in Egypt. From now on they must depend on God totally, who will led them to Promise land. 

#7- Desert of Sin. god then brings them to the desert. A place of trials and preparation. Also in hebrew the root of the word " desert" is the ame as "word". God was preparing them for the giving of His Word ( the Torah ).

#8- Daphka- Pulse. God then checked the "status" of His people.

#9- Alush. Uncertain. ( search for it ! )

#10- Rephidim- Shadows or "spread them". Fear came upon Israel when they looked at the trial ahead. They doubted God when no water eas found. They lack faith in Him..

#11- Midbar Sinai. Desert of Sinai. Again God took them to a place of trial and preparation.   

#12- Kevarot Hatahava- Tombs of lust. Again Israel followed their flesh, and brought death upon them.

#13- Chatzerot- Courts, After their failure God still takes his people to Him to reach out to them. His mercy again!

#14- Retma- Restrain. God had to restrain his people from their sinful nature.

#15- Rimon Peretz- High places of bursting out. The Lord wants His people to burst out of their sinful nature into the new man.

#16- Libnah- Whitening ( comes from the word lavan; white )

God wants to cleanse His people. "Even though your sins are as scarlet, they will be white as snow". The blood of Yeshua cleanses us from our sins.

#17- Risa- Uncertain ( search for it!) 

#18- Kehila- Congregation. God gather His people unto Him. Symbolized the meeting of the saints.

#19- Har shefar- Mountain of improvement. God wants to better His people.

#20- Charadah- Dread Israel panicked before the enemy even though God already defeated him.

#21- Makelot. Gatherings. Again God takes His people to Him.

#22- Tachat. Under. Then God will put us under Him.

#23- Terach- Name of Abraham's father. God again will train His people. 

#24- Mitka- Sweetness. Again God will bless His people, providing his sweetness to them.

#25- Chashemona- Silent of the counting. God again checks who is with Him.

#26- Benei Anak. sons of the giants. Than they will be able to face "giants".

#27- Chor Hagidgah. Hole of Gidgah. The Lord will alloe us to go through "lows".

#28- Yatevat. The bettering. The Lord keep improving His people.

#29- Avor- Cross over. God wants us to cross over "jordan" and enter The Promise land.

#30- Etzion Gaver. Sign of strength. He gives His people his strength.

#31- Midbar Tzen Kadesh. Desert of marking. Sanctification.

He sanctifies His people before they can take possesion of the land.

#32- Hor Hahar. Under the mountain of Hor. Under the Lord, near Edom, place of blood.

#33- Tzalmona.  Good Shadows. Under the Shadow of His Wings.

#34-Ponen. Evacuate. The Lord saves His people.

#35- Avot- The fathers. God bring His people ( us ) back to our roots.

#36- Eyei Hivrim- Eyes of passage. He brings His people across.

#37- Divon Gad- Word of joy. We shall rejoice in the Lord.

#38- Almon- Incognito. It is all about the Lord, not His people (us).

#39 Harei Hahibrim- Mountain of the hebrews, of the crossing to the other side.

#40- Arevot Moab. The plains of the fathers. Again god brings His people ( us ) back to our sources.

#41- Yarden Beit Yeshimot- House of the garden. Going down to the duties and our final task.

#42- Arevot Hashitim- Plain of trees. By the Yarden of close by Jeriko. God will brings His people ( us ) to a place of fruitfulness.
