Dateless and Desperate
The proper expression in Australia is the other way around - desperate and dateless, and they have dances for such people to meet. I am very fortunate - I have been married to a wonderful wife for over 36 years, so I am far from desperate and dateless. And when it comes to the rapture five doves (and my own musings) make sure that I am not dateless. I have felt for some time that I should say something about dates that do not work out. When we look back from eternity we will realise that the Author and Finisher of our faith placed (date setting) markers in the tough, uphill road of life that we are on. I love the passion for His imminent coming I find with the doves! I am not among those who criticise those who (based on the Word of God) try to find the elusive timing of His coming - if it doesn’t work out I move on, grateful to have moved higher up the mountain and closer to the pinnacle. Pastor Riley’s passion (among many others) is most welcome - what he shares shines a spotlight on the Word of God! God the Father is a Professor of Higher Mathematics - his timing is mathematically perfect! We are getting closer to understanding His algorithm! What I really love about the doves is that date setting is based on the intricate mathematics of His Word, and Israel’s journey as a nation. The richness that I have found is like the (just discovered) copper mines of King Solomon!
So I would like to encourage the watching doves to not to be dateless - as many in the world are - even many Christians feel that He will come sometime! Well, we have an imminent date (a destiny) with the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords - the lover of our souls, the (true) Lord of the Universe! And when our date arrives to take us home in the twinkling of an eye - well those left behind will be desperate. I hear Him coming! As likely dates come and go, I always reflect on the road up to Mount Wellington in Hobart, Tasmania, and a mountain that can be snow covered almost any time of the year. The road markers change from white to coloured and get taller as the summit nears. And the rapture summit is near! There have never been as many signs, as many mathematical confirmations, such birth pangs or such inner groanings. Without these encouraging (date setting) markers on the road to the rapture we may not get to the top - when we do we will see God face to face! What a moment! And the words of the unknown hymn writer will echo in our hearts:
He is not a disappointment
Christ is coming by and by
In my heart I have the witness
That the day is drawing nigh.
All the scoffers may despise me
And no change around may see
But He tells me He is coming
And His Word assureth me.
