""celebration" of halloween"
Doves, just one comment on "celebration" of halloween.
For myself, I cannot see any reason to
"celebrate" this day due to the meaning of it. I stopped
my children from this type of thing when they
were small. I read some scriptures to them and they decided
as well that they would not celebrate
satan's day in anyway whatsoever. The church we were
attending at the time had a "fall harvest"
celebration where foods, games with nice prizes were
played instead and there was no mention at
all of satan's day. No one objected. I, frankly, thought
there shouldn't be a"substitute" even, but rather
to ignore satan's " celebration". He does not deserve
a "celebration" in my opinion.
The tricking and treating at that time was basically
slowing down due to poisonings, razor blades
double edged put into apples and such atrocities, and
even one father poisoning his own children
in the candy. I remember thinking about the double edged
blades how that was a pitiful copying
of the double edged Sword of the Spirit, which is the
Word of God. Our hospitals will extra for
needles and blades , nails and such, but there still
could be poison, and has been.
We gave out very tiny Bibles...actually just booklets
with some of the book of John in it and some
cartoon tracts we found and they seemed pleased. Little
by little in our area there were no more kids
out on the street on this night.
I am thinking that if parents like costume parties, just
have a costume party, but at another time besides
halloween. That's my idea of it.
