Hello Frank and Doves,Frank, you bring up a good point which is that some believers have indeed been to heaven and hell. In fact I read Dr. Eby's book several years ago and it blessed me so very much. He was such an authentic, humble man. His visit to hell was really not the focal point of the book. God did some outstanding things in and through his life which he recounts in the book. I remember today the miraculous healing he experienced after falling off his roof and crushing his skull. It was one of my first exposures to hearing of a documented healing miracle. Still today I recall the precious story about the chicks being brought back to life in the oven! I'm also reminded of Pastor RH Buck's visit to the Throne room. I have had his sermon tapes for years and read the excellent book Angels on Assignment. Pastor Buck tells of the angels sharing doctrinal concepts with him, but they always provided chapter and verse in support of the specific teaching. Lastly I recently had the privilege of hearing Dr. Chauncey Crandall (Spirit-filled cardiologist) at a seminar tell of raising an ER patient from the dead. That patient had an interesting after-life encounter where he experienced being placed in a trash bag of sorts and overheard being thrown away. Perhaps this patient was experiencing an entry to hell as he was unsaved.
As you so accurately stated there are some very critical folks out there, like Hank Hanegraff who want to discredit any and all moves of the Spirit in our lives. We shouldn't take this position either.
All in all we do need to be careful when evaluating the authenticity of those who testify of seeing heaven and hell. Particularly when they offer information that expands or otherwise adds to doctrine. God is able to use those espousing weak doctrine for good. So just looking at good fruit stemming from a ministry isn't always a clear indicator of good theology.
Choo Thomas for one appears to be a loving, Spirit filled Christian, by all accounts. Which is why her claims of a "valley" outside of the Kingdom gates occupied by disobedient Christians, ultimately heading for the Lake of Fire, were disturbing. If any of you out there have Scripture to back such a place or condition of the spirit then please share. Choo in particular strikes me as a humble and sincere believer so I would hate to think of deception creeping into the body of Christ through her life.
In Christ,
Sandy
