"post to 5 doves"

I have been reading posts on five doves for the past few years and never felt inclined to post until now.

I was reading about the issue with the Christian event at a school on a post October 5th.  An anti-christian group threw a huge fit so the event was moved to a church, which also ended up being a problem since the event had some funding by a nonprofit group that has an office in the school. Apparently you can't have an office in a school if you have a non profit group and then fund anything that might help children that could be CHRISTIAN.  I could see where teaching young girls to dress moderately would be a huge problem since even famous singers wear their bras and underwear onto the stage.  Teaching our children that if you want to parade around in your underwear in public you can be famous and this is acceptable in our society.

Then I read further down about how President Bush is hosting an event for Muslims at the Whitehouse.  I am confused.  We as Christians cannot have any type of prayer anywhere, references regarding Jesus, the bible, or God can bring possible criminal charges, yet the Whitehouse can host a religious event for muslims and there is no problem with that.

Am I just totally ignorant or is this showing that it is okay to be muslim in America and to honor muslims but it is not okay to honor God or Jesus anywhere in America.

I know that in Israel the Messiah walked among the people, he taught, he healed, and Christianity grew from his teachings. Yet he was hung from a cross for doing good in the world.  I don't know about anyone else but it feels to me that here in America we are doing the same thing to our Messiah as a nation.  We have allowed America to become a place of Christian intolerance.  There are groups that stand up and fight against any representation of God or Christ.  If you are muslim, hindu or any other religious group you can have a place of standing in our country and are even invited to the Whitehouse with no one saying a word.  It goes along with the airports and the new foot baths that were put in for the muslims to do their religious washing.  I have yet to see a cross or any other Christian symbol at an airport so I can pray to Jesus, yet supposedly in America polls show 80% of this nation is Christian.

John McCain said this is a nation based on Christian values - wow did he get slammed.  It was at one time based on Christian values - it is God who is mentioned repeatedly by our founding fathers.  Where as in say Iran it is allah that is their basis for their laws and country.  I feel that if people hate Christ and God so much why don't they go somewhere that doesn't have any mention of Christianity in their background like say Iran.   Instead the few ungodly are making the many bow to their wishes in the U.S and our government is helping those few to push their values on us.

I am working hard to be a good Christian because I love my Lord and Savior.  I once thought I did live in a Christian nation but the more I have learned of our Lord, the more I realize that we are a Christian nation in name only not in action or beliefs.  I can't wait to see our Lord and I pray to be one that is found worthy to be taken to heaven and live with Jesus!  Lord help us. Amen.

Sincerely,

Melodie
