"Amos 8 : 1-2"

Amos 8:1-2

Amos 8:1 Thus hath the Lord GOD showed unto me: and behold a basket of summer fruit.

Amos 8:2 And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said the LORD unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more.

We can see in the scripture above that the summer fruit had been picked and put into a basket for safe keeping but not yet brought anywhere.

Noah was instructed to build an ark (a kind of container) that he and his family used to float to safety.

Moses was placed into a basket (a type of ark), and floated to safety.

Even the articles of the covenant were kept in an ark (a kind of container) to be kept safe.

I can’t help but believe that the basket of summer fruits signifies the end of the church age, with the church in an ark type vessel waiting to be taken to safety; and by what is said in the last part of Amos 8-2; “The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more”, indicates the last week of Daniels 70 weeks, when God deals with Israel again.

I have always felt that the four seasons have to do with Gods plan for the church and for Israel.

Spring; being the 69 weeks of Daniel’s 70 weeks, or 483 years, from the word going forth to rebuild the temple to its destruction 40 years after Yeshua’s death and resurrection.

Summer; being the church age; the wild olive being grafted into the cultivated olive tree.

Fall; the last week of Daniels 70 weeks, when God works with Israel again.

Winter; being the Millennium or Great Sabbath as the time of rest.

Perhaps we’ve been picked already and put into our basket/ ark, waiting to be taken to a safe place.

After seeing the similarity with Noah maybe there should be a great expectation about the coming anniversary (Nov. 8 2006) of Noah, the ark, the flood, and being taken to safety.
