"COUNTING NUMBERS"

Has the Wonderful Numberer blessed all the faithful scribes who were permitted to touch His Divine Word? Does this include our faithful brothers who added the chapter and verse numbers? I find it rewarding to take note of the verse counts from Genesis 1:1 through the whole bible and from the beginning of the New Testament along with the chapter numbers. It seems He has used these numbers to highlight certain important  passages and maybe draw our attention to verses we may otherwise overlook.

JESUS WAS NUMBERED WITH THE TRANSGRESSORS

                      'because he hath poured out his soul unto death; and he was numbered with the transgressors;
and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.' ....... Isaiah 53:12

'And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was,
JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.' .................John 19;19

When Jesus dies, he 'pours out his soul unto death', and he is given a new title by Pilate, 'Jesus of Nazareth.' The gematria (the adding together of the Greek letter values) comes to 2,197, which is 13 x 13 x 13 and 13 is linked with transgressors. In Revelation 12:9 we find 'the one called Devil and Satan' also totals 13 x 13 x 13, or 2,197. The other names of Satan found here are 'Dragon', 975 or 13 x 3 x 25, and Serpent 780, 13 x 3 x 20. All three names have a representation of 3 x 13.

The gematria of the quote above from Isaiah is 4,901, 13 x 13 x 29, and the value of 'because he hath poured out his soul unto death' comes to 2,065. It might sound a little trival to say that 2 + 6 + 5 = 13, but when we see how it ties into the verse number of John 19:19 where he is called 'Jesus of Nazareth', it becomes fascinating.

a)   John 19:19 is the 26,845th verse of the bible counting from Genesis 1:1, and 26,845 equals 13 x 2065.
b)   John 19:19 is the 800th verse in John's gospel, the value of 'Lord'.
c)   John 19:19 is the 3,700th verse in the New Testament, the value of 'Christ our Passover'.
d)   'Pilate's title' is 1,521, or 13 x 13 x 9.
e)   The total of the first 78 (13x6) letters of the verse from 'And Pilate' to the last letter of 'Nazareth' is 6,656, or 8 x 8 x 8 x 13.

'And set up over his head his accusation written,
THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.' ..................... MATTHEW 27:37

a)   Matthew 27:37 has a verse number of 24,167, or 13 x 13 x 13 x 11. Yes it is a multiple of 2,197! One of only three in the New Testament.
b)   'This is Jesus the king of the Jews' is 8,112, (8 Jesus + 112 Lord God), and 8,112 = 13 x 13 x 3 x 2 x 8, with a factor sum of 37.
c)   The whole verse has a gematria of 11,700, or 13 x 900.

'And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew,
THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.' ................   Luke 23:38

a)   Luke 23:38 drops in at a beautiful 25,974, 13 x 3 x 666. We have the three x 13's and the number of the beast, the number of a man.
b)   'The superscription' is 962, 13 x 2 x 37.
c)   'The superscription also was written over him' is 2,548, 13 x 4 x 7 x 7.
d)   'This is the king of the Jews' comes to 5,018 or 13 x 2 x 193.

SO WHAT DOES 13 MEAN?

Although 13 is clearly linked with transgression, it is the first figurative hexagram and is contained in many names of God. 'Yahweh' 2 x 13, 'The Almighty' 13 x 27, 'Ancient of Days' 13 x 13 x 8, 'God of Gods' 13 x 11, 'Glory of Israel' 13 x 43, 'Adonay' 13 x 5, and 'Ha-Elohim' 13 x 7. How can we reconcile this apparent contradiction.

This is where bible numerics can help us understand scripture. It is good to prove the divine authorship and design, but the numbers can emphasize scriptural principles. They make us think, giving us the opportunity to seek the Holy Spirit, 'who brings us into all truth and all understanding.' I feel I received an answer, that the number 13 represents THE CLAIM TO BE GOD. God has 13 because He is God. Satan has 13 because he rebelliously claims to be God. As Isaiah 14:13,14 explains his ambitions, 'I will exalt my throne above the stars of God... I will be like the most High.' Remember how the sin of Adam echoes this, 'Now that you have become as one of us, to know good and evil.' (Gen. 3:22, vs 78 =13 x 6)

Therefore when Jesus dies He became sin for us by being numbered with the transgressors and at the same time is rightly given the number of God, to the third power, a divine numerical statement. The number works both ways, the world called Him sin, we call Him God.

I then realised that my judgments of good and evil was the death producing sin of Adam. My playing God over others by being their judge has to be repented, for there is one judge and He is God. I want His good and evil, not mine, a total abandonment to His will and purpose. These numbers profoundly changed my life.

OTHER VERSES

'I and my Father are one' .... John 10:30
Vs 26,512, It brings together the 26 of Yahweh and the 512 (8 x 8 x 8) of Jesus, vs 3,367 in the NT, or 91 x 37.

'And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.' ..... Mark 15:37
Vs 24,864, which is 28 x 888, 1,719 in the NT, factor sum 197, 'Immanuel'.

'The Son of man shall be betrayed ... and condemn him to death' .... Matthew 20:18
Vs 666 in the NT.

'Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition.' ....... Mark 7:13
Vs 1,332 in the NT, 2 x 666.

'The bridegroom shall be taken away.' ... Luke 5:35
Vs 1,998 in the NT, 3 x 666

WHILE ON 666

There are four references to 666 in the bible, three in the OT, one in the NT. The three OT references are, 1 Kings 10:14 at 9,094, 2 Chronicles 9:14 at 11,378, and Ezra 2:13 at 12,041. The total is 32,513 or 41 x 793.

Revelation 13:18 is 30,927, or 39 x 793. All four verses are therefore 80 x 793. This amazingly high common factor is the eleventh figurate hexagram, or star of David, which is made up of twelve triangles of 66, the eleventh triangular number. Notice the Revelation verse has the 3 x 13 again. The total number of letters in the four verses is 216, or 6 x 6 x 6.

When Ezra mentions '666' he is counting the tribe of Adonikam as they leave the false religon of Babylon. Nehemiah (7:18) is counting them in at Jerusalem and they now number 667. Is this how we 'overcome the number of his name'? (Rev 15:2) When we walk from spiritual Babylon to New Jerusalem we 'overcome the 666.' The meaning of 'Adonikam' is, 'THE LORD IS RISEN'.

Great musicians and artists have used their God given gifts to His praise and glory. Hymns and paintings have been used to bring home His sheep. Counting the bible numbers is just another lane to God's great highway. Not the numbers, but the God of the numbers.

I am sure better mathematicians will be able to take my primitive calculations further. Please come back with what you find.
