"Rumors of war..."

Dear friends:

Jesus spoke of “rumors of war…”

Below are two “rumors” taken from Debka, the intelligence Web site in Israel, at www.debka.com

1.  DEBKAfile’s sources: Tehran and Damascus are gearing up for a preemptive Syrian attack on Israel to ward off a US strike on Iran’s nuclear sites
October 7, 2006, 9:52 AM (GMT+02:00)
Our military and Washington sources read as preparatory justification the Syrian ruler Bashar Asad’s statement Saturday, Oct. 7, that he expects an Israeli attack.  He was speaking in an interview to Kuwaiti paper al-Anba.  Asad’s Iranian-backed war plan would serve the purpose of forcing the Americans to divide their military assets between a strike against Iran and the defense of their allies in the Persia Gulf, Israel and US forces in Iraq.

2.  Iran and Turkey Prepare for War in Iraqi Kurdistan
DEBKAfile
Exclusive Military Report
September 24, 2006, 5:58 PM (GMT+02:00)
A new Middle East war is in the offing. DEBKAfile’s exclusive military sources in Iraq and sources in Iran reveal that Turkish and Iranian air units as well as armored, paratroop, special operations and artillery forces are poised for an imminent coordinated invasion of the northern Iraqi autonomous province of Kurdistan.  Our sources pinpoint the target of the combined Iranian-Turkish offensive as the Quandil Mountains, where some 5,000 Kurdish rebels from Turkey and Iran, members of the PKK and PJAK respectively, are holed up. Iranian and Turkish assault troops are already deployed 7-8 km deep inside Iraqi territory.

_______________________________

I do not believe Debka’s intelligence speculations have a 100% record of accuracy, but these two are interesting, predicting a soon Syrian attack against Israel, plus an Iran-Turkey attack on northern Iraq, which would really complicate things there for the Coalition and threaten a regional conflagration.

This plus (1) North Korea’s nuclear capability and belligerence, (2) Iran’s belligerence and soon nuclear capability, (3) Hizballah’s re-entrenchment in southern Lebanon, and (4) al-Qaeda’s presence in Gaza, make for extremely dangerous situations.

Pray for our troops, and for Israel.
