"Re: Eric C and Ellen's letter"
Eric, what you said is a very
eloquent way of saying exactly what I meant. Yes, the Bible stands alone,
and the numbers are only further evidence of the truth of the majesty of
God's divine Word. I should have added as I have said before that the numbers
are for confirming the truth about the Word, NOT for predicting anything.
They are an example of the hidden secrets that are within the Word, and
are there for those who search for them, but the written Word does not
need anything added to it.
The Bible is multi-layered and as
such is a living Word, always new and fresh, no matter how many times one
has read the same passages. When one begins to see the orderly arrangement
of numbers and patterns in the Word, and in the universe, one can see a
glimpse of the awesome mind of God, but even so, there is much more that
is beyond the ability of our finite minds to grasp.
The psalmist said it well in
Psalm 145:5:
"I will
speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works."
And this verse from 1 Chronicles 29:11
says what I am trying to say better than I can:
"Thine, O LORD is the greatness,
and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all
that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom,
O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all."
