"Re: Amish"

Re Deborah's question on any underlying message in the tragedy in Pennsylvania ...though there seem to be some possible correlations, I see no obvious conclusions... God has already revealed His plan in His Word, and has accomplished His will through Jesus and has no need to manipulate evil just to send a message to those who won't hear - but the Holy Spirit can enlighten our minds to extrapolate redemptive meanings from seemingly senseless acts of evil.  We should be cautious in our speculation, especially if it could wound the suffering.  That said, these may be possibilities:

Oct. 13, 2006 - Day of Atonement - when an innocent sacrifice was offered for sin

Occurred in Paradise, PA

One room schoolhouse - Whole world?

Sign in school house: "Visitors brighten people's days" - Jesus came to be the light of the world?

Ten young Christian girls were shot or killed - ten young women with their lamps lit?

Five young girls plus the gunman died = 6, the number of Man

Marian Fisher offered herself as a sacrifice to save the other girls (this was a CNN on-lne headline)

Meaning of Marian(Miryam). "Mara" - "bitter" the name that Naomi took on after the death of her husband and sons; "Miriam" - "beloved" - Moses' sister.

Fisher - a Christian allusion?

Amish - peace loving, non-violent, set apart group of God fearers?

Gunman did not see death of his premature child as being under God's sovereignty; refused to submit and instead of nurturing hope for reunion he nurtured and directed unrepentent anger at God - picture of Sin and how humans nurture it instead of the hope of the GospelJudgment of Man as opposed to Judgment of God?

Isolated, rectangular schoolhouse has an ark look about it.

Gunman nailed the door shut from the inside - opposite of God shutting the door of Noah's ark from the outside to carry Noah and his family through the judgment?

A picture of a dramatic perversion set in motion by the Enemy as a Last Days attempt to counterfeit divine acts?
