There is only one abomination that causes desolation.  Jesus specifically says ------when you see standing in the holy place the abomination that causes desolation (Daniel 9:27, 11:31, 12:11) spoken of through the prophet Daniel---- let the reader understand.

 

Antichous did not confirm a covenant with Israel and the many for one 7.  The rapture did not happen during Antichous time. Antichous may have comitted a similar abomination but it was not the same one spoken of in Daniel 9:27, 11:31, and 12:11.  This is the abomination that causes desolation done by the antichrist.   So  Daniel 11:21 through Daniel 12 is more than likely about the antichrist.

But notice verse 35, saying this process of purification of God's wise will continue "until the time of the end".  Well, if verse 35 and prior, including your verse 31, are already the time of the end of the Antichrist as you propose, then it makes no sense to say that the exploits and falling and refining of those who opposed the abomination of desolation and the king of the north doing it will continue until the time of the end. !!  No, There  definately will be refining and falling during the final 3.5 year period notice from the verses in Daniel 11:32- 35-- it says he will corrupt the people who have violated the covenant, but the people who know their GOD will firmly resist him (antichrist). The wise who resist the antichrist will fall by the sword, be burned, and captured and plundered.  See also how Revelation 17:6, and 20:4 echoe the verse from Daniel 11:32-35  below

Daniel 11:32-35 (NIV) 32 With flattery he will corrupt those who have violated the covenant, but the people who know their God will firmly resist him. 33 "Those who are wise will instruct many, though for a time they will fall by the sword or be burned or captured or plundered. 34 When they fall, they will receive a little help, and many who are not sincere will join them. 35 Some of the wise will stumble, so that they may be refined, purified and made spotless until the time of the end, for it will still come at the appointed time. 

 

Revelation 17:6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.

 

Revelation 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and [I saw] the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received [his] mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

 

The tribulation is 7 years long and there are many that will have to go through the great tribulation and be beheaded in the name of Jesus Christ.  Die in the name of Jesus Christ. The time of the end may refer to just before the Jesus returns.

 

Daniel 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation [even] to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. 

 

 

Daniel 12:11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days.

 

Daniel 12: 12 Blessed [is] he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

 

Daniel 12:13   But go thou thy way till the end [be]: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.
