"October 14, 2005 - Real Day of Atonement?"

Dear Fivedoves,

Because the New Moon was not seen this month until October 5th, the actual
Day of Atonement may not be until today, October 14th, even though it was
celebrated yesterday by the Jewish people. So, I believe we should still be
looking at today as a very possible day for the Rapture to take place.
Consider this: God created man on the 6th day of the week, He redeemed man
at Calvary on the 6th day of the week, and perhaps He will also re-create
man on the Day of Atonement, the 6th day of the week.

The 6th day of the week was the LAST day of Creation that God spoke and
Revelation 4:1 tells us that His voice is like a TRUMPET. 1 Corinthians
15:52 (NIV) says, "in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the LAST
TRUMPET. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable,
and we will be changed. The Bible tells us that at the sound of the LAST
TRUMPET, we shall be caught up in the air to meet the Lord.  So again, we
see the possible correlation between the 6th day of the week and the
Rapture.

The last trumpet of the 10 days of Awe, that begin with the Feast of
Trumpets and ends with the Day of Atonement, is sounded at the end of the
Day of Atonement. Yom Kippur ends with the blowing of the Shofar, the
trumpet which heralds the coming of the Messiah. This has already taken pla
ce in Israel yesterday, but perhaps it is still to take place today in the
heavenly realm. I believe we should be looking for the Rapture to possibly
take place at sunset tonight in Israel time since the new day begins at
sunset in Israel or possibly right after midnight their time since the
Gentile time starts the new day at midnight. Jesus tells us in Matthew 25 in
the Parable of the 10 virgins, that the cry for the Bridegroom to come came
out at midnight, so that is at least a possibility. Just as the Sabbath is
starting, the 7th day of the week, so would the Sabbath rest of God's people
be starting, the 6th day is over and the 7th has begun.

This would also make the tragic earthquake that took place in South Asia a
7-day warning before God really shakes the earth and the heavens at the time
of the Rapture of the Church.

Here are a few interesting things about the Day of Atonement:
The high priest could only go into the Holy of Holies once a year (Leviticus
16:2, Hebrews 9:6-7).  God issued a warning that no man could see His face
and live (Exodus 33:20).  But because on the Day of Atonement the priest
could be in God's presence (Leviticus 16:20), another term for the Day of
Atonement is "face to face". Therefore, when the high priest stood before
God on this day, he was said to be "face to face" with God.  Face to face
terminology was used in First Corinthians 13:9-12. Face to face is an idiom
for the Day of Atonement. (Perhaps we will see Jesus face to face on this
day).

Yom Kippur: Names, Themes, and Idioms
1. Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement)
2. Face to Face
3. The Day (or the Great Day)
4. The Fast
5. The Great Shofar (Shofar HaGadol)
6. Neilah (the closing of the gates)

The same Hebrew word used to describe the Day of Atonement is used to
describe Noah's action when he pitched the ark within and without with tar.
Just as Noah covered the ark with a substance that would come between him
and the judgment waters of the Flood, the blood of the Day of Atonement
becomes the saving, sealing agent where sin is atoned for.

Just some things to think about.
