"Putin sets off for EU-Russia
summit"
Russian President Vladimir Putin departed Moscow
for Brussels Monday on his way to a European Union-Russian summit in London.
Putin was greeted on the runway by Belgian King Albert
II, and Putin later attended the Europalia-Russia Festival of arts and
culture.
He was scheduled to fly to London, where Pravda reported
trade, energy and anti-terror efforts will top the agenda for his meeting
with EU leaders.
After the summit, Putin was to appear at a news conference
with British Prime Minister Tony Blair, President of the European Commission
Jose Manuel Barroso, and High Representative for the EU Foreign and Security
Policy Javier Solano.
Wednesday, Putin was set to present awards to British
Navy servicemen who helped rescued a Russian mini-sub that became trapped
on the Pacific Ocean floor off the Russian coast in August.
