"ISRAEL ARRESTS 3 HAMAS NETWORKS IN W. BANK"

TEL AVIV [MENL] -- Israel has arrested nearly 120 Palestinians accused of comprising three Hamas insurgency networks in the West Bank.

Israeli security sources said the networks were part of a Hamas drive to employ the West Bank as a base of suicide and missile strikes against Israel . The sources said the networks operated in the Ramallah and Hebron areas.

The Israel Security Agency said the networks comprised of at least 117 people and were responsible for a series of attacks over the last three years. Hamas, which in February 2005 pledged to participate in a so-called calming period, did not take responsibility for many of the strikes.

On Monday, ISA director Yuval Diskin said the agency has foiled Hamas and other attacks through an advanced system that collects, collates and relays information to security commanders. Diskin attended a ceremony in which ISA's computer department won a technology prize for the system.
