It is intersting that we are often admonished in
scripture to be sober when the Lord returns:

1Th 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as [do] others;
but let us watch and be sober.

1Th 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober,
putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for
an helmet, the hope of salvation.

1Pe 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be
sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be
brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

1Pe 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye
therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

Mat 24:49-51 "And shall begin to smite [his]
fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he
looketh not for [him], and in an hour that he is not
aware of,And shall cut him asunder, and appoint [him]
his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be
weeping and gnashing of teeth."

Luk 12:45-46 But and if that servant say in his heart,
My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat
the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and
to be drunken; The lord of that servant will come in a
day when he looketh not for [him], and at an hour when
he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will
appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

Eph 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is
excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
