"re "AD replaced by CE: Is it sinister?""

Dear Tim -

Your statement:

Thus, it's not sinister to use BCE and CE.  It's really more accurate and also more polite to those who are not yet sure or in agreement that Jesus is "our lord" as "A.D." literally says.

I respectfully disagree. Your position is perilously close to being 'politically correct'. The debate is not whether BCE and CE is technically accurate but whether or not this usage further obscures the underpinnings of our western civilization. I believe that it does. Another cultural reference to Jesus 'Our Lord' is being erased to honor secularism and diversity. Christianity is not about going out of our way to avoid offending non-believers. To think otherwise is to reject the directive to carry out the 'Great Commission' and negate the purpose of the Age of Grace.
