RE: Don Best "Re: "the western wall""

Thank you Don for your thoughtful and gracious response. A few months ago I presented the same question on a board I frequented, and you would have thought I committed the "Unpardonable Sin." After the attack, they deleted everything regarding that topic on both sides of the discussion. Well, it does build character! LOL!

I have never been to Israel, but many years ago I heard a "Bible scholar" mention that there are "two of everything." There are two Gulgothas, two maingers, two upper rooms, etc... He then presented the opinion that he felt that God intentionally confused these locations to prevent us from making them idols. I think that we all have this tendency, and must be vigilant to at least recognize it, especially when it is so obvious.

I think that it is obvious when we see the Muslims requiring that our soldiers wear gloves when they touch the Koran. But how many of us have almost the same attitude toward the cross or our Bible? Now, I truly love the scriptures, but my Bible is paper and ink. It's nice to have memorized some scriptures, but that can even be dead works. I think the object is that the Word becomes flesh. In other words, it is carved into my being, made part of me. Seeing that no one in their right mind would worship me, that would be a safe place. LOL!

The other aspect of this question, is the great fear that many Christians have in correcting our brother Judah. There is a "respector of persons" attitude with their regards, which is not of the Father. Jesus definitely didn't hold back correcting Judah of his errors. And pointing out those errors seemed to be the main task of the judges and prophets of old. If we're hesitant to even approach Judah on the most obvious errors (documented by Scripture), how will they ever be converted?

Shalom, John
