Dear friends:
Someone once asked me, "How can you proclaim supernatural healing according to the Bible and at the same time promote natural healing?"
That's an easy question.
The answer is: There is no conflict because all healing is supernatural! God is sovereign over all the universe. Not one electron or molecule in the entire universe is beyond His knowledge and power. Further, He designed our inmost, intricate parts. He knows every one of our some 100 trillion cells, how they work and what they need.
{If God is so powerful, then why do people get sick? Answer: In the Garden of Eden, the world got broke! It is under a curse. But Jesus came to restore us by becoming a curse for us (Galatians 3:13).}
Supernatural healing is, of course, usually thought of as being without the aid of doctors, medication, natural substances, or any outside influence, just as Jesus healed people instantly in the gospels. That often happens, praise the Lord, and I have witnessed many such instances, in others and in myself. It is exciting. For dramatic examples, see Appendix 1of my book at http://www.choicesforliving.com/book/the_power.htm.
Natural healing is usually thought of as being with the help of natural, God-given substances, created for our health, such as vitamins, minerals, proteins, phytonutrients, glyconutrients, etc. But God created all that too, so let us give Him credit for everything.
But what about unbelievers who also get healed by natural substances? That is only because they are following God's design. "He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous" (Mathew 5:45, NIV). Follow God's design and you get God's results.
In the New Testament, Jesus healed everyone who came to Him, and I doubt if they were all believers in Him as the Messiah. They just wanted to get healed. The lame man at the gate called Beautiful was just asking for money, and in the name of Jesus Peter pronounced him healed (Acts 3:1-10). The man immediately got up "walking, and leaping, and praising God."
The question becomes, "If I am suffering from a sickness, should I seek a supernatural healing or a natural healing?"
That's another easy question.
What does the Bible say to do when you get sick?
STEP 1: According to the Bible, you first call the Doctor (not a medical doctor, but Dr. Jesus, Yahweh Rapha, the Lord my Healer, or Doctor). Here is God's prescription (Rx) for New Testament believers:
Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well (James 5:14-15).Do you believe that? Recently I was discussing this passage with a doubting pastor friend who said the verse could not apply to every sickness. I replied, "Then you mean that the Holy Spirit made a mistake and should have said, "may (and not will) make the sick person well." He had no answer. But note that the promise does have conditions.
There are other biblical ways to get your healing. I summarize most of them in my comprehensive article, "How to Receive God's Healing Power" at http://www.choicesforliving.com/spirit/part4/healing.htm. This article is the result of over 30 years of study on the subject. While at CBN in about 1980, I wrote the 700 Club healing tract and most other ministry tracts which were used by the 700 Club for years, and since then the Lord has given me many more insights, and still does.

STEP 2. Ask the Lord to reveal anything in your life that is not pleasing to Him and may be contributing to your sickness, such as unbelief, unforgiveness, bitterness, immorality, unhealthful habits, poor eating, etc. Sincerely confess your sin and by faith receive forgiveness and cleansing by the blood of Jesus according to 1 John 1:9.
STEP 3. Radically believe God for your healing. Reject all doubt.
STEP 4. Your healing may be instantaneous! It happens!
Or it may be over time, possibly using natural means. Whichever, immediately begin to treat your body as the temple of the Holy Spirit, fearfully and wonderfully made, and nourish it with all the knowledge that you have or can obtain, such as from this newsletter and elsewhere.
God may use natural substances and good eating habits to bring about or at least to maintain your healing. But even if your healing comes from a natural approach, always give credit to the Lord and not to any natural substance or regimen.
Do not take your good health for granted. Thank and praise God every day for what health you have, and day by day use your life for His glory.
More about natural healing in future editions of this newsletter.
God bless you,
Jim
