Airbus A380 makes test landing at Frankfurt airport

The new super-jumbo Airbus, the A380, landed early Saturday in Frankfurt on its first trip to a major airport, as part of a series of tests the airliner must undergo before it enters commercial operation....

The world's biggest passenger jet landed at 8:57 am (0657 GMT), three minutes earlier than expected,....

After eight hours of tests, the airliner is set to return early Sunday to Toulouse in southern France, where Airbus is headquartered....

The A380 is capable of carrying from 555 to 840 passengers, about 40 percent more than rival Boeing's 747 jet......

The A380 is scheduled to enter commercial operation at the end of 2006, when Singapore Airlines will be the first air carrier to use the jet....
