"TRUE FREEDOM OR SELF"
TRUE FREEDOM OR SELF
You would think Adam and Eve had everything they could
possibly want but there is a twist to this story. They had a perfect
relationship with God, each other, genius minds, perfect harmony with the
animals-horticulture and any other perks that came with Creation.
They were instructed by God Himself that they could eat anything except
fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Did you ever stop
and think why God would even do something like that? When Eve looked
at that particular piece of fruit on the Tree of Knowledge of Good and
Evil she was in essence looking at self. God gave Adam and Eve the
option of freedom or self. He still gives us that option today.
I think it is kind of interesting that oftentimes we want the very thing
we cannot have because I suppose it promises to satisfy self but the irony
is self will never be content with anything no matter what it is.
God desires to replace self with His very presence through His Son, Jesus
Christ. When we accepted the Lord into our hearts not only did God
save us from our sins but He saved us from ourselves.
When Eve was looking at the piece of fruit (self) that
is when the Devil came in and used his subtle deceit. Half of what
the serpent said was not even true, but when we look at self we are vulnerable
to deception. If we have accepted Jesus Christ into our hearts we
have one of two options-pursue our freedom in Jesus Christ or indulge self
which leads to sin. It is true that no Christian understands all
of the freedoms they have in Jesus Christ but reading and meditating on
His Word ( Bible) is a start. I struggle with this every day just
like most Christians do. As we face this soulish battle every day
remember we do have a choice even if our life is overwhelming.
Praying for you to have a strong
relationship with Jesus Christ.
