John:
As we approach voting day, and what is probably the most crucial
election on the national scene we have experienced in some time, I
believe there are two issues that stand far and above all others. Those
two issues are God and Country. There are those who favor support of abortion and homosexuality, both of
which are in abomination in the sight of God. If we elect those who
promote these issues, we are going to face the possible consequences of
God withdrawing his hand of protection on this country, which I believe
was illustrated in the tragedy of 9/11. We have read of devastating
hurricanes, earthquakes, and the possibility of a volcanic eruption in
recent weeks here in this country, and these are all an evidence of
God's judgment. We cannot afford to turn our back on God without
devastating consequences. "Do not be deceived, God cannot be mocked. A
man reaps what he sows." (Gal. 6: 7). If we neglect this issue,
everything else will eventually pale in comparison. The other issue involves the security of our country. We must vote for
those who will support a courageous stand against terrorism, even if we
have to go it alone. We cannot depend upon other countries to help us.
Some of our closest allies have not supported us, because they were
involved in secret deals supporting our enemies as has been documented.
We surely do not need friends like these! Sure we have made some
mistakes in judgment, but hindsight is always is better than foresight.
As Teddy roosevelt said, "I'd rather err convincingly on the wrong side
of right than tiptoe over the line of wrong." If we don't stop the
terrorists they will destroy what we hold dear, for that is their goal.Another aspect of this issue is the necessity of placing the welfare of
our nation above a political party, group, or personal ambition. Too
often we are not willing to sacrifice for what is ultimately the best
for for the people of this nation. Our fore-fathers sacrificed
considerately that we might have the things that our best for us today.
Are we now going to just throw these aside so we can satisfy our own
selfish desires? It is time to put our differences aside and stand united for the good of
our nation and for our own good. God will be watching us.Wes K.
