Is Christopher Reeve's life a shadow picture of the United States?

He began life as a Christian yet turned away from God.
He proclaimed that he didn't believe in God.
He played Superman, a twisted analogy to Christ,
sent by his father to earth, with "powers and abilities far beyond
mortal man, fighting for truth, justice and the American way".
The very image of America, the sole Super Power of the world.

Then he had a fall.
The Superman facade vanished.
He was crippled, paralyzed.
No one thought he would survive.
Yet he lived on. He had the space of ten years to repent,
yet he never did. Then he was gone.
Killed by a bedsore.
