Chief Justice William Rehnquist could be back on the job as early as next week after undergoing surgery for thyroid cancer, but his hospitalization serves as a reminder that Tuesday's presidential election is about more than Iraq, terrorism and the economy. It's also about the future of the U.S. Supreme Court. George W. Bush or John Kerry could end up appointing not just one, but several new justices to the court.
