"The Constitution Party"

Dear Doves:

As much as I agree that America must govern itself according to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, I believe that we must also be aware of the fact that the world of 1776 is not the reality of 2004. So, what exactly does the implementation of  the Constitution Party platform entail from the perspective of the 2004 world we live in? IMHO, in order to implement the Constitution Party platform, Americans would embroil themselves in nothing less than a second revolutionary war.

Consider: Peroutka spoke in California at a well attended meeting of the California Coalition for Immigration Reform. There, Peroutka said that as President one of his top priorities will be to "really secure our borders and deport all individuals who are here illegally". Think. How exactly will he attempt to do this without Congressional legislation or judicial review? Are there enough Congressmen, Senators, and judges to support him? How will he 'round up' the illegals? Who will do the deporting? The National Guard? Which governor of which state will order the National Guard to do so? What will be the repercussions of such an attempt to the economy, to the illegal immigrants with American-citizen children, to the Hispanic-Americans? Is there anyone who will oppose this deportation? With guns? Follow-through on the scenarios and see how they play out.

Now consider the processes needed to actually attempt to implement the following 9 points.

The Constitution Party advocates the restoration of Constitutional principles of government instituted by our founding fathers:

1. That the federal government be restored to its proper function as an agency that represents the people and the states in international affairs; that Congress may pass laws, but the states must enforce them; that the federal government was not granted any police powers that could be enforced in any state of the union. (Does that mean we disband the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security?- MK)

2. That the U.S. Constitution was written as a restriction and limitation on the federal government and no implied powers are granted to the federal government.(What happens to Social Security and Medicare?)

3. Each state is a limited sovereign created by the people who retain all sovereign power not expressly delegated via the constitutions of the several states and the Constitution for the United States of America.

4. That all amendments not ratified are not law, and are void for want of proper ratification.(What happens to the 14th Amendment, which was not properly ratified?)

5. That all civil war and reconstructions acts are to be declared over and all martial law rules and regulations created under these circumstances are to be repealed.

6. All land not properly ceded to the federal government in any state of the union of several states is hereby returned to the states respectively; and the states must sell all land to the people that is not specifically used for state purposes. No state can hold open land not specifically designated for state purposes.

7. All land is held by the people in their sovereign capacity in allodium.

8. That each state shall have its own citizens, and the federal government shall never have its own citizens; everyone shall be a citizen of one of the states. (Was the Civil War fought to preserve The Union in vain?)

9. That the federal government shall issue only non-debt money issued by the Treasury Department.(How do we exempt ourselves from the 'global economy' without reverting to a third-rate country ready for take-over by anyone of our enemies?)
