Dear friends:
At the beginning of World War 2, as the Nazis swarmed through Austria, Poland, Czechoslovakia, and threatened the shores of Great Britain, Winston Churchill took the helm as Prime Minister from the failed appeaser, Neville Chambelain, and inaugurated his term with these brave and historic words:
"I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears, and sweat. We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us many, many months of struggle and suffering. You ask, what is our policy? I say it is to wage war by land, sea and air. War with all our might and with all the strength God has given us, and to wage war against a monstrous tyranny never surpassed in the dark and lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy. You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs - victory in spite of all terrors - victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival."
Today we are facing another "monstrous tyranny never surpassed in the dark and lamentable catalogue of human crime" that threatens our very survival. May the President of the United States, whomever he may be, and leaders of all other free nations, such as Great Britain, Australia, Poland, and others, also proclaim with Churchill "victory at all costs - victory in spite of all terrors - victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival."
Thank God for bold leaders such as Winston Churchill, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Douglas McArthur, and many others, who were raised up for a time such as this and had the courage to face down the enemy, and win.
