"Hoaxes and Urban Legends"

Ok, I confess.  I posted a hoax.  Las Vega prostitutes have not organized to file suit against Abercrombie and Fitch.  At least I don't think they have, because I wrote the article as satire.http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/oct2004/glenp1012.htm Nobody apparently noticed.  In the same way, Al Gore has not filed a suit in the Hague contesting the disenfranchisement of leftist Aussie voters in the reelection of Howard as Prime Minister.http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/oct2004/mariek1011-3.htm The source of this article ishttp://www.scrappleface.com/MT/archives/001870.html This same website included such articles as: Kerry Protests Dig At Tomb of Genghis Khan

(2004-10-06) -- John Forbes Kerry today accused Japanese and Mongolian archeologists of trying to "plunder the tomb of Ghengis Khan in a fashion reminiscent of...well...Genghis Khan."

"Genghis Khan was a role model to me during my service in Vietnam," said Mr. Kerry, who is also a U.S. Senator. "I implore the archeologists in Mongolia to leave the tomb, and thus the soul of its guardian, undisturbed."And also: Debate Sways Uncommitted Kerry to Vote for Self  "I think I was persuasive, compelling and lucid tonight," said John Forbes Kerry. "Consequently, I've earned my vote. I came in genuinely uncommitted, undecided. But I'm walking out of here tonight virtually assured of supporting myself for President of the United States." It is, of course, a sign of the times we are in that such satirical writings are not as bizarre as the truth.  However, I have noticed how powerful worldview is to blind us to the truth.  Despite the overwhelming magnitude of daily articles describing wars, bizarre crimes, violence, depravity, corruption, famines and universal lawlessness the world and worldly Christians pay no attention.  This should not be surprising.  We are told it would be as in the days of Noah. But I submit to you that a Christian tradition just as blinding. The Pharisees are our example.  If our mindset causes us to miss the subtleties of satire, might it not also blind us to the mysteries of scripture? We called to be as gentle as doves, but also wise as serpents.
