This morning (October 23, 2004) reading at
SUNSPOT 684: Yesterday it was barely visible; today it's five times wider than Earth. Sunspot 684 is growing remarkably fast. Witness this 24 hour animation from the Solar and Heliospheric Observator (SOHO):
Sunspot 684 is the one near the middle. When sunspots evolve so rapidly, their magnetic fields can become unstable and erupt. This active region merits watching this weekend as a possible source of solar flares.

This is really “something”…. because this remembered me to the news almost 1 year ago…the historic Sunspot 486:
SUNSPOT 486: The source of all this solar activity is giant sunspot 486. This week it has unleashed two of the most powerful solar flares ever recorded and hurled massive CMEs toward Earth. More such eruptions are possible in the days ahead.

Thessalonian.4,13: But
