"A Small Prophetic Insight...from 1954."

From my Grandmother, known as 'Grandmother Betsy'.

I did not live long enough to know my Grandmother (my Mother's Mother),
in fact she died when I was only 3 years old in 1955.

Fortunately, my Mother told me enough about her own Mom, that I always
felt like I knew her pretty well, and this past week I spoke with my Mother,
and we were discussing the shape of the world, and where it was going...

My Mother told me that she remembered very clearly when her Mom was
not in the best of health (the year was 1954), and yet she went to church
regularly, prayed often, read and studied the Bible, and on one occasion,
she called her daughters (of which my Mother was one of three) into the
room, and she told them to sit down, which they did, and she told them of
what she had been reading in the Book of Revelation, and she said that
she was quite sure she would not be alive when King Jesus returned in
Power and Glory, but that they would very likely be alive, (my Mother just
celebrated her 77th birthday) and she said "Girls, when you see the price
of a loaf of bread over a dollar a loaf - you can be sure that the Lord won't
tarry too much longer."

Now that was in 1954, when bread was less than a quarter a loaf. (15 to 18
cents a loaf as a matter of fact)  ANYone suggesting that a simple loaf of
bread might one day cost as much as a dollar would have been considered
delusional and daft.  Such pricing was unthinkable in 1954.

50 years later, it isn't uncommon to see bread (in some places, and some
brands) selling for over TWO dollars a loaf and more. In fact, we have had
bread selling for over a dollar for quite some time (by our timekeeping of
course)...

I believe that it pleases God to sometimes reveal little truths and insights
like
that to the unsophisticated, 'little' people while keeping the great
philosopher
kings and their ivory tower associates ignorant in their own self-perceived
importance and brillance.

I believe my Grandmother Betsy's words were based on something more
than her own understanding.

The time continues to draw closer to the coming of Our Lord.

Look up, for our redemption draweth nigh.
