Dear Brother Bramlett & Five Doves...Many thanks for the powerful testimony of President Lincoln,
although I cannot help but imagine that had Lincoln been in
Office today, he would be smeared and assailed by the same
pack of know-nothings, chanting 'Lincoln Lied, Millions Died',
indeed - the Democratic Party nominated General George
McClellan, whose major (and only) position was a pledge to
conduct the War Between the States more 'efficiently' (does
that somehow sound familiar to a certain pompous Senator
who continues to babble on about how America 'needs more
alliances' in the War on Terror?)And of course we would be hearing all sorts of fantasies from
disgruntled Stephen Douglas supporters who would claim that
Lincoln 'stole' the election of 1860.And what an interesting parallel - Abraham Lincoln was the man
responsible for the freeing of the slaves, hence being named the
'Great Emancipator', and here we are 144 years later, and due to
the efforts of President George W. Bush, 25 million Afghans are
now free of the tyrannical Taliban, 23 million Iraqis were rescued
and freed from the sadistic boot of Saddam Hussein, and yet it is
unlikely that Bush will ever be called the 'Great Liberator' in any of
our future history books - no, he'll continue to be vilified, smeared
and demeaned by the legions of hatemongers, and that alone ought
to tell us about the basic goodness of that man - he (Bush) professes
his faith in Jesus Christ, and we all should recall the Words of Jesus
when He said to His disciples "as the world hates me, so too will it
hate you..."Euliss Dewey
