"The Reality of American Politics - A vote for a 3rd is a vote against Bush or Kerry"

Greetings Doves

I browse this board quite a few times a week and I rarely post.  I enjoy reading your thoughts and points of views.  And I find comfort in knowing that the Doves are out there believing in Christ.

Those of you who have seen me post before know that I am a political junkie.  I follow politics daily and as frustrated as I get with politics, I still love it.

I see quite a few members out there STILL campaigning for 3rd party candidates.  This is so agonizing.

Sure, there are those of us who say "Well if everyone votes for them, then they'll win."

Of course that's the case.  But you have to face reality.

3rd parties are created slowly.  You have to win some city councils.  A Mayorship here and there.  You have to get a congressional seat here and there.  Maybe a Senate seat or a Governorship.  Get some notoriety, and THEN try for the Presidency.  To go straight for the end goal is a bit naive and very selfish.  An unrealistic 3rd party candidate increases the chances of the winning candidate winning with less than 50% of the vote like they did for Clinton... twice... and Bush.

There is NO WAY that the Constitution Party candidate will receive more than 5 or 6% of the vote for the Presidency this year.  Worse yet, I suspect that the two main candidates will be separated by less than 3 or 4% of the vote when all is said and done.  Think about that.

You may not like our two-party system.  But it's what we got.  And YOU, yes YOU are very close to throwing us out of the frying pan and into the fire.  If YOU continue along this path of self-righteousness, you are going to allow a servant of Christ to lose.  No one claims to be a "perfect" Christian.  But YOU will be responsible for kicking a "pretty good" Christian out of office and replacing him with a man whose agenda will make you wish you had thought more clearly about things.  If you vote for a 3rd party candidate, all you are doing is making the opposition's job easier.

Look, American Politics is a reality.  You might not like it.  You might not agree with everything the President is or has done.  But if you are blinded by your anger, your anti-Semitism, or your self-righteousness, you are going to miss the forest through the trees and put the rest of the country in harms way all because you thought you were standing on principle.

We are 11 days from the most important election in generations.  11 days is not enough time for ANY 3rd party candidate to gather 40+% of the electorate, let alone a main party candidate.

Think before you attempt to deride our two-party system.  You might find that you alone are responsible for throwing the other 95% of the country under the bus.

"God bless us with the courage to recognize truth even when it scares us."

IN CHRIST
