"Encouragement for the last lap of this marathon--especially for Suzi"

Hello, John and Doves,

Here is some encouragement to finish the marathon we're in.

The last lap of a modern Olympic marathon is always held in the stadium.

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily besets us."
Hebrews 12:1 [immediately after the "faith" chapter, Hebrews 11]

Here is the study:

Seeing that in these last few days that precede the rapture, the enemy will step up his assaults, in both number and intensity, let us first put on the full armor of God.

"...Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might."  Eph 6:10  NLT
[Please read Ephesians 6:10-18.]

As you go about the Lord's business, you will be under attack as regarding your qualifications for being on the LORD's team.  At that point, you must realize that even though you are dressed for battle, the battle is the LORD's.

"As all the men of Judah stood before the LORD with their little ones, wives, and children, the Spirit of the LORD came upon one of the men standing there.  His name was Jahaziel, son of Zechariah, son of Bernaiah, son of Jeiel, son of Mattaniah, a Levite who was a descendant of Asaph.  [Some psalms were written by Asaph.]
"He said, 'Listen all you people of Judah and Jerusalem!  Listen, King Jehoshaphat!  This is what the LORD says:  Do not be afraid!  Don't be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God's.  Tomorrow, march out against them.  You will find them coming up through the ascent of Ziz at the end of the valley that opens into the wilderness of Jeruel.
"But you will not even need to fight.  Take your positions; then stand still and watch the LORD's victory.  He is with you, O people of Judah and Jerusalem.  Do not be afraid or discouraged.  Go out against them tomorrow, for the LORD is with you."
2 Chronicles 20:13-17  NLT  [See also Deut. 11:24-32, Deut. 27:12-26, and Joshua 8:30-35]

"[The LORD, speaking to Joshua] Study this Book of Instruction [Torah] continually.  Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it.  Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.  This is my command--be strong and be courageous!  Do not be afraid or discouraged.  For the LORD your God [YHWH Elohim] is with you wherever you go."  Joshua 1:8-9

You say you can't fight, nor can you bring yourself to surrender.  It's okay, for the battle is the LORD's.  All you have to do is remain calm, and follow orders.

"As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God."
Romans 8:14  KJV

Indeed,
"He gives power to the weak
                and strength to the powerless
.
"Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.
"But those who wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength.
They shall mount up with wings as eagles.
They shall run and not be weary.
They shall walk and not faint."
  Isaiah 40:29-31

By making the joy of the LORD our strength [Nehemiah 8:10, Psalm 22:3], no matter what happens, we know we are in the center of the LORD's will.  It is written,

"All things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."  Romans 8:28  KJV

Indeed,
"What can we say about such wonderful things as these?  If God is for us, who can ever be against us?"  Romans 8:31

"And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love.  Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow--not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love.  No power in the sky above or in the earth below--indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord."  Romans 8:38-39

So, instead of pacing in endless worry, we can be still [2 Chron 20:17 and Psalm 46:10] and know that we know that we know that Jesus is LORD.  [Listen to "I know that I know that I know," sung by Stephanie Boosahda, NewPax, 1981.]

"But Thou, O LORD, art enthroned upon the praises of Israel."  Psalm 22:3

[Please also read Psalms 42, 43, and 44.]

"What I am saying, dear brothers and sisters, is that our physical bodies cannot inherit the Kingdom of God.  These dying bodies cannot inherit what will last forever.

"But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret.  We will not all die, but we will all be transformed!

"It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown.  For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever.  And we who are living will also be transformed.

"For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies.

"Then when our dying bodies are transformed into bodies that will never die, [and our mortal bodies have been transformed into immortal bodies,] this scripture will be fulfilled:

'Death is swallowed up in victory.  [Isaiah 25:8]

'O death, where is your victory?

O death, where is your sting?  [Hosea 13:14]

"For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power.  But thank God!  He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.

"So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable.  Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless."
