"Whom does a watchman warn?"

Hello, John and Doves,

A watchman warns the city of which he himself is a citizen.

As such, he may find himself "preaching to the choir," as it were.

When a sheepfold has heard the cry, "I see something!  Gird yourselves!" for long enough without result, the tendency in some sheep (read:  sleeping Christians) is to assume there is no immediate danger--let's change back to our comfy jammies and count humans (get it?)!!

The purpose of the watchman has still been carried out if he attempts to give early warning.  Sometimes the enemy makes several feints to get our eyes off the LORD.

Let the watchman watch in his turn, and let us all be attentive as the LORD gives each one of us the grace to do so.

Baruch HaShem Adonai Roi,
Mike C.
