take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be over-charged with
surfeiting and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon
you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of
the whole earth. Watch, therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted
worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass and to stand before
the Son of man.
Luke 21: 34-36

This is one of the dangers and the time we live in now. Being overwhelmed with
the cares of this life. The enemy of our souls is hard at work trying to keep us
so busy with problems, fears and cares that we neglect getting ready and staying
ready. You can watch, and not be ready.
Just as a reminder:
We are saved
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his  mercy he
saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the  Holy Spirit;
Titus 3:5

He's coming quickly, doves
 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we  may
have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
1John 2:28

So then,
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be  transformed by
the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test  and approve what God's
will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:2

Let's be found not only watching but ready. Let's be covered with His
righteousness and not our own. Let's be filled with The Holy Spirit and not full
of ourselves.
Let's stay under His precious blood and in His word because just as
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave
himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water
by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having  
spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and  without
blemish
Ephesians 5:25-27

Regardless of what this present age glories in

  Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new
earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
  Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent  that ye
may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. 2 Peter 3:13-14


And so, here we find ourselves at the last of the last days....surrounded by
vanity fair

   But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles
of our Lord Jesus Christ;
  How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should
walk after their own ungodly lusts.
  These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
  But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in
the Holy Ghost,
  Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus
Christ unto eternal life.
  And of some have compassion, making a difference:
  And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the
garment spotted by the flesh.
  Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present  you
faultless  before the  presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
  To the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power,
both now and ever. Amen.
