"To Daniel Matson"

Daniel,

Here is a web site that you may find interesting in which Spurgeon argues, like you do, that HE in the verse of Daniel 9:27 is Christ  the Messiah, not the antichrist and that THE covenant is the New Covenant based on Jesus death on the cross as a sacrifice for the sins of the world.

“And He shall confirm the covenant with many for one week; and in the midst of the week He shall cause sacrifice and oblation to cease”. In the middle of the last period of 7 years, so 3 yrs after His baptism, Messiah would confirm the covenant, would be cut off, and would cause sacrifice and oblation (offerings) to cease! How beautifully these words fit into the picture of the Cross of Christ, where Jesus died in the spring of 30 AD, 3 years after He was baptized!

And also in this web site:

"Matthew Henry’s commentary states, “By offering Himself as a sacrifice once and for all, he (Jesus) shall put an end to all the Levitical sacrifices. British theologian Adam Clark says, “Jesus Himself would confirm or ratify the new covenant with mankind. The Jamieson Fausset and Brown commentary says, “He shall confirm the covenant-meaning Christ. The confirmation of the covenant is assigned to Him”.
I believe these eminent theologians and you. Keep up the good work!

YBIC,

Robert
