About 5 months ago, on my way to work, on 2 seperate days.......I struck and killed a bird (it was a ground-runner...and could not fly up in time.)........and then a few days later, I struck and killed a squirrel.
 
I was mortified......I can count on one hand the number of animals I have run over with a car over the last 40 years of driving in my life!!
 
After I hit the squirrel....in my mind, I casually said "if the Rapture is really near......then show me.......  If so, I will hit another animal very soon...
 
I know, I know....it's silly.........but get this.....
 
Over the next few weeks, I not only hit another squirrel, I hit a bunny, too. The bunny was at night......out of the blue........ (It's like the car was an animal magnet...and I was mortified....!!)  4 Animals in less than a few months...FOUR!!  In 4 years of driving this road for work.....I'd never hit a single thing!
 
And......2 of them had to BACKTRACK to get killed.....No kidding.....they were CLEAR of the car....they had made it across the center of the road past my car!!  ......already past my car...IN THE CLEAR.....and they DOUBLED BACK.....and I hit them.
 
I couldn't believe it....the bunny (#3) and the first squirrel (#2--before the challenge...) BOTH had to double back.
 
And, as it was all on country roads...it happened FAST!  I couldn't have swerved.....it wasn't possible.....it's not like I saw them waiting.....or running....until is was too late.....
 
Anyway.......I am still mortified.......and sad........and yet, amazed!  (now.......maybe I'm crazy.......but....)
