Bruce,  I think you're right---
Hannukah isn't a major holiday, at least, and not one of the 7 Feasts.

I was married to a Jewish man ('long story, for another time  :) ),
and remember my MIL giving me a written commentary on this---
Apparently the Jews felt "left out" in December, with all of the emphasis on Christmas
for most in the US, so decided to make what had been a minor observance
into a major Jewish holiday!
