Obama and Harry Potter

I have followed with great interest (and concern, bordering at times on despair - after watching some videos!) the letters on Obama and the now imminent United States presidential election.  I am an Australian, but I want to assure US doves that our prayers are with you - there are no national borders in the body of Christ!  Before I comment on Obama and Harry Potter, I would like to emphasise two very important things:  first, this should be a call for us to pray in our secret place, not to get involved in controversy with family/friends (my wife was a child carer and managed, through prayer, to quietly avoid the videos being shown in our home!); secondly, I do not believe that Obama is the Antichrist, but he is a messiah like figure and a forerunner and his ability to captivate audiences is the strongest we have seen on the political world stage for some time - but still a shadow of the power of Satan’s ultimate man , as described in Daniel 8:23, 24:   

And at the latter end of their kingdom, when the transgressors have reached the fullness [of their wickedness], a king of fierce countenance and understanding dark trickery and craftiness shall stand up.  And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power; and he shall corrupt and destroy astonishingly and shall prosper and do his own pleasure, and he shall corrupt and destroy the mighty men and the holy people.

I have been puzzled at the way Obama has gained popularity, even though many supporters can not explain which of his policies they like - almost like a mandate for change we need - a leap of blind faith!  This can only be understood by realising that Satan has been implementing his plan to seduce the minds of nations, particularly (but not only) of the children.  In his August 2001 Last Trumpet Newsletter, David Meyer commented on Harry Potter:  The minds and hearts of the world are being taken in an occult snare.  It is all in preparation for the appearing of the son of perdition. Thank God, there is a remnant who can still see!  Now I appreciate that David Meyer has a different second coming perspective, but he is a man of God who is heartbroken over the state of his nation (in the same August 2001 newsletter he shared the vision of Manhattan burning).  Seven years later there is no repentance!!  More details from the newsletter below. 

Now to Obama.  Googling Obama and Harry Potter came up with interesting information, as evident in this quote from an AP interview on 18 August 2007:   Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama is the ‘Harry Potter parent’ who has read all six books about the boy wizard's adventures with his older daughter, his wife said.  In an interview Wednesday with The Associated Press, Michelle Obama said her husband has read the books aloud with 9-year-old Malia and saw the latest movie, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," with her last Sunday.  More recently, I understand that in the latest Infomercial it is said that speaking of family values, they showed Obama and his family and how he read Harry Potter to his daughter.

It is a matter of great sadness for me that for the last three years Harry Potter are the most sold/read books in Australia.  More time is spent reading about a boy learning witchcraft, than One who came humbly as a baby/child/man and gave His lifeblood to save us!  How can the possible leader of a ‘Christian’ take pride in replacing the Bible - the Book that he should read with his daughter, with books about learning witchcraft!  And they are long books (I have not got past the back cover - as I explain in a previous letter below).  We are in a battle for the eternal destiny of millions in our nations!  Let’s keep praying until He comes!        

Last Trumpet Newsletter (excerpt) - November 2008

In this issue of the Last Trumpet Newsletter, we will use the light of the Scripture, the Holy Word of Almighty God, to reveal the truth of the recent amazing events that are now happening in our nation and around the world. Without a doubt, this is the most difficult newsletter I have written in twenty-seven years of publication. It is a nearly impossible challenge to get all of this information on five pages.  The Lord awakened me at four o'clock this morning and gave me the above title [Under the Dark Shadows of Antichrist!] and scriptures for this issue of the newsletter. He then flooded my mind with a revelation about the antichrist and his dark forces…We also know from Bible prophecy that in the last days an Antichrist would rise up to enslave the entire world. He would use economic power and great deceptions to cause the people to worship him and his master, who is Satan himself.  When we realize that Moses typified Christ, we must also know that the Antichrist would likewise be an opposite of Moses and therefore do the reverse of what Moses did. The Antichrist, as an anti-Moses type, would lead people into slavery, idolatry, and bondage!

Having come out of the occult, I am very sensitive to anything of that realm, and I always try hard to warn people that it is nothing to mess around with. Witchcraft is an abomination in any form, and the Harry Potter books are now destroying our country with the endorsement of many churches…Another picture shows Harry lifting his hair to reveal the mark of a lightning bolt on his forehead. Yet another shows them standing in front of the three-headed hound of hell. I am amazed at the ignorance and lack of discernment of the ministers. There was a time in this country when anyone who promoted such blatant witchcraft would have been ridden out of town on a rail. Witchcraft has not only been popularized, but it is also glorified as adults and children alike have become spiritually addicted to Harry Potter.

In Britain, Prince Charles says that he starts his day by listening to a Harry Potter audio book. The prince said, "The tapes sat by my bed for ages, but as soon as I played them, I was hooked."  England is regarded as the "holy land" by witches.  What truly amazes me is the insatiable appetite of people for witchcraft.  On June 19th, the American Library Association ended its convention in San Francisco and released the following statistic that of all global book sales, Harry Potter books accounted for 11 percent of all book sales world-wide. (24) What an astounding figure! The world is more than tithing to witchcraft by. It is all in preparation for the appearing of the son of perdition. Thank God, there is a remnant who can still see!

Harry Potter and the Number 7 (21 July 2007) - Denis

Some years ago I was sitting in a food hall in Canberra when I felt the Holy Spirit ask me to check out the Harry Potter books.  I got as far as the dust cover and was amazed to find that the hero was learning witchcraft.  I remain nonplussed about the popularity of the books and films, when the Word of God clearly warns about such things (for example, Deuteronomy 18:9-14).  David Meyer www.lasttrumpetministries.org) notes his deep concerns in a tract on Harry Potter:  "As a former witch, I can speak with authority when I say that I have examined the works of Rowling and that the Harry Potter books are training manuals for the occult. Untold millions of young people are being taught to think, speak, dress and act like witches by filling their heads with the contents of these books."  As an aside, if you check the August 2001 edition of the Last Trumpet you will find his vision of Manhattan, including the twin towers, burning.  In this letter, however, I wanted to just draw attention to the number seven:  the seventh (and final) book released on the 21st day of the seventh month in 2007.  And if my maths are correct, 3677 days between release of the first book (26 June 1997 - according to Wikipedia) and the seventh book. And the films will be around until 2010!  Maranatha
