In 165 B.C.E. the Maccabees defeated the Greek forces and rededicated the
Temple. One day supply of oil burned for eight days (Hanukkah).
In 70 AD. this Temple was destroyed.
165 B.C.E. to 70 A.D. equals 234 years (no year '0' so,
165 + 69 = 234).

Dr. (Jeffrey) Hoffman made his fourth flight as an EVA
crewmember on STS-61, December 2-13,
1993, on the Space Shuttle
Endeavour. During this flight, the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) was
captured, serviced, and restored to full capacity through a record five space
walks by four astronauts. Dr. Hoffman also spun a
dreidel for the holiday of
Chanukah to a live audience watching via satellite

Chanukah ran from December 9th to December 16th in 1993. Since the mission
landed on December 13th he spun the dreidel in space between 10 to 14 days
before the Angel gave Vincent Tan the $2.34 on 23
December 1993. December 9th to December 23rd would be
15 inclusive days. It will be 15
years from 23 December 1993 to 23 December
2008. Interesting that Astronaut Hoffman spun the dreidel
up in space and about two weeks later the Angel came
down from above to give Vincent Tan the token of
$2.34.

current 19-year Jewish calendar cycle. The 358th day of 2008 is the 23rd of December. It will be 15 years from the
day Vincent Tan received the $2.34 (23 December 1993) to 23 December

A personal note: Again,

the four letters on the dreidel is 358. Astronaut Jeffrey Hoffman spun the dreidel in
space during mission STS-61. 61
x 358 equals the exact number of
days from my birth (7 February 1948) to last Thanksgiving Day (22 November
2007). My oldest brother died on that day. He had died seven
times on 10 August 2007 but was revived and lived until the 44th anniversary of
JFK assassination on 22 November 2007. There were seven crew
members in shuttle mission STS-61.
