"Michael Westphall: Little Old Ladies that pray"
Hi Michael;
Your letter reminded me of
something that Rick Joyner said in one of his books which told the
story of a series of visions where God opened his eyes to see the
spiritual battles taking place within the church, both today and in the
future - as well as a guided tour through heaven.
While
in heaven, Rick met many men in history as well as now deceased
contemporaries who had impressed him as great men of God and had had
profound influences on his life. He was very surprised that
most of them were actually in the “lower” ranks of heaven.
When he asked them why they didn’t receive greater rewards, most gave
the reason of pride. Pride in their accomplishments had
diminished their rewards. As Rick made his way through the
ranks of heaven, he eventually came to the Judgment seat of
Christ. Those in the highest ranks were sitting on the thrones
that were all part of Christ’s throne. The people on these
thrones ruled over such things as cities on earth, affairs of heaven,
and the stars and the galaxies. There were still many of
these empty thrones to be filled.
While some of
these people who had inherited the highest rewards had been wealthy
and/or well known people on earth, many had been missionaries who
expended their lives in obscurity. However, the thing that most
stood out for me was the following sentence: “HOWEVER, IT SEEMED
THAT FAITHFUL, PRAYING WOMEN AND MOTHERS OCCUPIED MORE THRONES THAN ANY
OTHER SINGLE GROUP.
You are so right Michael. I too
believe that these little old ladies (and anyone else) who diligently
loves and prays for God’s people and his will…never concerning
themselves about whether anyone else in the world appreciates their
sacrifice…those are the people that God knows he can trust to help rule
and judge.
P.S. I thought it might bless you to know
that it had been a long time since I had read these
visions. I knew that line was in either Rick Joyner’s “The
Final Quest” or “The Call”, but I didn’t know which and I didn’t know
where. I didn’t want to misquote Rick and I didn’t have much
time, so I asked God to show me right away where that sentence
was. I picked up the “Final Quest” and let it just fall
open and started reading on that page. Within two pages, I had
found the spot for which I was looking. At that point I was
pretty sure that God wanted me to share this with you.
For
those of you who have not read the “The Final Quest” (which is part
one) and “The Call” (which is part two), I highly encourage you to get
those two books (or you can get them in one volume). They are a
fascinating read and provide great encouragement for today’s spiritual
battles as well as delightful insights into heaven.
