"Regarding the uproar caused by Pat Roberson's endorsement of Guiliani:"

Dear Friends,

Regarding the uproar caused by Pat Roberson's endorsement of Guiliani, consider:

If all evangelical voters voted for a candidate who espoused our most important values, can that candidate win his Party’s nomination? Maybe. Would this Party, then, with this candidate, carry enough electoral votes in the general presidential election to assure a win?  Probably not.

Next November, this election will decide how quickly Christianity and the support of its principles is suppressed and/or deemed illegal. Therefore, it is imperative that we prioritize our issues and place “defeating Hillary” at the top.

I purport that, before we decide whom to reject or support, we focus on who has the best chance to win against Mrs. Clinton. To do otherwise is an exercise in futility. Yes, we may make a strong statement with our support of a candidate in line with our primary values, but if that statement does not translate into electoral votes, we will find ourselves with a leader predisposed to unraveling the many treads we have managed to weave into our political system – those which have slowed down the decline of our constitutional government – beginning with the appointments of federal and Supreme Court judges.

It is my contention that any other focus will result in making our Christ-given mission impossibly difficult to convey and relegate our cherished ideals to the dust-bin of history.

I am not as yet endorsing Mayor Guiliani or any other presidential candidate. I am considering his persona versus all the other candidates to decide who can best successfully “take on” the former co-president and her supporters.
