Dear John and all Doves,
      The lights of the Festival of Lights or Hanukkah are 9 lights for 8 days. The total would be 44 lights over the 8 days.The Servant light or lamp is used to light the others. It is the light which feeds the others and this light represents the Christ/Messiah. Galatians chapter 5:22-24 refers to the Fruit of the Spirit which are 9 in number. They are listed as follows: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control. Here is a kind of chart of the days of Hanukkah:

Love is 9 which includes 1-8 and is the servant lamp of Christ/Messiah

Day 7 is Gentleness from December 10-11
Day 8 is Self control from December 11-12

These are ideas to consider for the days of The Festival of Lights. These 9 gifts are like wedding presents from The Groom for us as His Bride. If we think of each of them lit we can imagine a beautiful menorah of the life in The Spirit, The Comforter, The Spirit of Truth Who wants to lead us into all Truth. The Christ/Messiah is the real and true LIGHT OF THE WORLD. I give thanks for the finest light of all. Days of His Light are before us.
