"re: Oprah's New Age gospel"
I saw the article about Oprah. And I thought
about the Christian church and what it offers to the world.
What does it offer.... In a majority of churches,
I believe it offers a belief system. But you know what, that is not
what people want. They want something that is real. And that
is where the church fails. In spite of what God offers to every believer.
I believe Jesus paid the ultimate price for us to experience eternal life.
Jesus even defined that term, it means knowing God. It is supposed
to begin now. Jesus said in John 14:17 that the Holy Spirit lives
here in us and also lives here with us. And how many do you
know that "know" the person of the Holy Spirit that lives here with
us. I hope you know more than I do. An interesting point too
is that in the Greek, the Holy Spirit of truth can also be translated as
The Holy Spirit of verity or reality. He is the reality of God living
here in us and God living here with us. This is what the world is
looking for -- the reality of God. And Jesus said He's here.
It's just that this is hardly a message of the church. So the world
looks elsewhere.
