I read a recent article on the Apostasy of the church. I don't even know who wrote it and I can't recall if I have posted it on the Doves. He uses the word ENRON to describe it.E - Entitlement. The leaders in the church feel they deserve to be treated like kings. Jesus said they should be servants.N - Nepotism. Leaders show favoriticism to family members and creat arbitary double standards. They build spiritual dynasties.R - Robbery. Christian leaders use donor funds to purchase lavish perks for himself. The Bible makes it clear that a Christian worker is worthy of his hire but it also condemns those who have their hands in the coffer. When Malachi asked "Will a man rob God?", he was not just talking about those who did not tithe. He was pointing to greedy priests who stole part of the offerings meant for the poor.O - Overflated ego. Leaders today are drunk with power. When an egomaniac drives an organization, you can be sure he will eventually crash and hurt a lot of people in the process.N - Negligence. God judges leaders by the way they conduct themselves when no one is looking, not by the size of the crowd or the volume of their preaching. He expects us to be faithful in the small things. The piece was written about ORU, but it could also apply to several others I know about.
