MartinActually I think the antichrist could rise from many places. The Vatican is just one place I closely have my eyes on. Hal Lindsey is the man who wrote in his book The Late Great Planet Earth that the antichrist would rise out of the European common market, he also supports the popular view that the antichrist will rise out of the European Union. The article I posted two days ago Lindsey was talking about Malachys prophecies and he said The next pope Peter the Roman would be of the people who destroyed the city in 70 A.D.. So Hal Lindsey says the next pope will be Roman, Peter the Roman.I dont know why--- I just dont see Benedict XVI being the false prophet or the antichrist. He is German not Roman. There is a belief that Peter the Roman was later added and that Glory the Olive is the last pope but according to you Peter the Roman will be an antipope so he will exist. So we both agree that there will be a Peter the Roman, you just think he will an antipope from the underground church. I think he probably will be elected in the next conclave. He will not technically be a pope because he is the devil.Jhn 21:17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, [son] of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest
thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
I knew this verse but never thought about it in relation to Peter the Roman but ill admit you do have a point. Feed the Sheep is meant in a positive way. So Peter the Roman will enter the Roman Catholic church under extreme persecution and will feed the flock through many tribulations. This is a good thing for me to know.
If that prophecy of the last pope is being used to describe the Anti-Christ, then it is describing the opposite of what the Anti-Christ does. The Anti-Christ doesn't " Feed the Sheep," he makes war against them and the false prophet has them beheaded.
HoweverBut the antichrist wants to be like god and he trys to imitate god in many ways and we all know that this Peter the Roman is not successful as we all know the city of seven hills will be destroyed. So in a sense He feeds the flock to their destruction. We are are all taught the view that when the antichrist first comes on the scene hes like the wolfe in sheeps clothing.Amazing that Hal Lindsey acknowledges Saint Malachy and his predictions on the popes.
