THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST IS AT HAND !

I firmly believe that Jesus Christ is returning very, very soon. So soon, in fact, that I believe that the rest of my days should be spent in proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ rather than working in worldly government.

I am sending this letter to you to encourage you to prepare for the imminent rapture of the Bride of Christ, the great tribulation to follow, and the return of Christ after that. I do not believe that every Christian will be raptured before the tribulation. Only those who have lived their lives for their Lord, Jesus the Messiah, will be accounted worthy to escape all that is about to happen to this world. These are those that have lived in obedience to His revealed Word, the Bible. The antichrist is about to be revealed and the tribulation will soon follow. I write this to you so that you will be counted worthy to escape the judgements soon to come.

THE WISE WILL UNDERSTAND

Many proclaim that no one can know when Jesus is about to return and, therefore, refuse to think about the reality of His return. The Bible clearly teaches about the second coming of Christ. It also teaches that those who watch for His coming will know when it is about to occur. At the very least, we who watch will know the season of His coming. Here are some verses to consider:

In the Bible Jesus speaks in parables, that is, in figures of speech. He did this so that only those who have ears to hear will hear. Pray for an ear to hear. He grants this only to those who seek His truth. Peter asked Jesus who it was that He spoke this parable to. Jesus then made a distinction between the faithful, wise servant and the wicked servant. He contrasts the wise servant to the wicked one that keeps saying, "My master is delaying his coming." The wicked servant scoffs at the notion that Jesus is soon returning. Rather than earnestly seeking the Lord and watching for the signs of His coming, the wicked Christian is the one who is busy with his own plans concerning business, religion, and the world. He does not understand the times in which he lives.

SIGNS OF THE TIMES

The lawlessness of all mankind is the clearest sign of the end of the present age. Here is the scripture that dramatically states this. (2 Tim 3:1-5 NKJV) But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: {2} For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, {3} unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, {4} traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, {5} having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

Paul further warned that lawlessness would increase until the man of lawlessness, the antichrist, was finally revealed. (2 Th 2:7-12 NKJV) For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. {8} And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. {9} The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, {10} and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. {11} And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, {12} that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

As an attorney and legislator I have seen lawlessness in every branch of government. I also see lawlessness in our houses, our families, our schools, and our businesses. All of mankind has followed the lusts of the flesh and has filled this earth with every abomination imaginable. All alike are sold into sin. Our only escape is to believe upon the One who was crucified for our sins and was raised from the dead to sit in power at the right hand of God, Jesus Christ our Lord. The Bible says that without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins. That is why Jesus shed His blood for us. When we believe in Him, His blood covers our sins so that we can be accepted by God into eternal life. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, {9} not of works, lest anyone should boast." This all comes by the grace of God and is by faith, not of works. Salvation is by grace and faith, but ...

ESCAPE FROM TRIBULATION ONLY COMES BY WORKS

In Luke 21:36, Jesus said, "Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man." Jesus clearly implies here that only the worthy will be allowed to escape the terrors that come upon the world in the end times. His words make no sense otherwise. This means that escaping the tribulation takes work and is different from salvation. How can we be worthy?

If you will take the time to read the letters to the seven churches in Revelation 2 and 3 you will see that very few churches or Christians were commended by their Lord. For example, Revelation 3:4 tells us, "You have a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy." Only a few Christians in the Church of Sardis were considered worthy. Why? Because they had "not defiled their garments," that is, they did not live in perpetual sin. If they did sin, they repented of their sin, asked for forgiveness, and asked for strength to live a life of holiness before God.

Christians in the Church of Philadelphia are given a special promise of escape from coming tribulation. (Rev 3:10 NKJV) "Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth." In verse 8 Jesus had commended them for keeping His Word. Philadelphian Christians obeyed the Word of God. So will it be that Christians who obey God's Word today will be accounted worthy and will escape all that is about to happen.

If you believe that Jesus is coming again, you will watch for His coming. If you earnestly watch for His coming you will purify yourself before Him. (1 John 3:2-4 NKJV) Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. {3} And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. {4} Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.

Jesus warned us, however, that many who were invited to His wedding feast would not be allowed to come. These are those who are not worthy. (Mat 22:4-5 NKJV) "Again, he sent out other servants, saying, ... all things are ready. Come to the wedding."' {5} "But they made light of it and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his business." Then Jesus said, "the wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy" (Mat. 22:8). Will you do the works of God and be accounted worthy for attendance at the wedding of His beloved Son?

SALVATION IS BY GRACE AND FAITH ALONE

John concluded his gospel by saying, "[This book is] written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name" (John 20:31).

Paul wrote, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9).

If you have not yet been born again, born into eternal life, then believe that Jesus is the Messiah (the Christ) who is truly the Son of the living God. Pray to God now and receive Jesus as your Savior. Salvation is by grace and faith alone, but the Bible is equally clear that ...

REWARDS ARE BY WORKS

One of the clearest parables concerning rewards is the parable of the ten virgins found in Matthew 25:1-13. Since all ten are virgins all ten are Christians. All ten know who Jesus is. Five of the ten, however, are foolish, while the other five are wise. What made the five foolish? They were too busy with the cares of this life to actively watch for the Lord Jesus. When the Lord came, therefore, they were not ready. The oil (spirit) in their lamps (body) was low. They did not really know the One who died for them and upon whom they had believed. Consequently, only the five wise virgins got to go with Jesus when He came for them. Those five went through an open door with Jesus, but then the door was shut. The five foolish virgins "bought" some more oil for themselves and asked Jesus to let them in too, but He told them, "I tell you the truth, I don't know you."

The door the five wise virgins entered is a symbol of the rapture. The wedding banquet is the wedding feast of the Son of God and His Bride. Not all Christians get to go to this feast, and, therefore, not all Christians are part of the Bride of Christ. Only those that have taken the time to get to know Jesus will be allowed in. That is why he said, "I do not know you." These Christians will be left to be refined as gold during the great tribulation that is about to unfold. Some Christians obey God; some do all the things the world does, even the evil things. Those who obey now will be rewarded. The rest will learn to obey God.

Revelation 19:7 says, "His Bride has made herself ready." Being ready did not come merely by initial salvation. Peter exhorted Christians to "live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God...make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him" (2 Peter 3:11,14). Paul urged the Thessalonian believers to "live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory" (1 Thes. 2:12).

Believe me, the signs of societal break down are everywhere. These are warning signs to those who have eyes to see. Pray for an eye to see the truth. Why else are kids killing kids in our schools? Why else was a murderer like O.J. Simpson set free? Why is it impossible to pass a law that stops the murder of unborn children? (Why did rage, fear, or confusion enter your heart when you read that? You know who you are.) The time of God's punishment upon all the wicked of the entire earth is at hand. We have a very, very short space in which to repent of our sins and turn to our Creator in humbleness of heart.

In one of the Bible's most important prophecies concerning the end of time and, specifically, the great tribulation, Jesus said, (Luke 21:34-36 NKJV) "But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. {35} "For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. {36} "Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."
