"Jesus : The Messiah"
If Jesus was not the Messiah, the One whom the
prophets foretold. Then why came the sheperds and wisemen to worship with
incense and gold ? And why would the mighty King Herod destroy Ramah's
children so young. Unless he believed in the coming of Him of whom the
angels had sung
If Jesus was not the Messiah but only a man of the sod.
Then why would John the Baptizer proclaim Him the true Lamb of God ? For
John was revered as a prophet and preached of man's need to repent. He
baptised the low and the mighty and even the Savior God sent
If Jesus was not the Messiah but only a mortal like me.
From whence came His power and wisdom, unequalled throughout history ?
And why did the people surround Him to hear Him proclaim the Good news.
While healing and offering salvation to penitent Gentiles and Jews ?
If Jesus was not the Messiah would twelve men just follow
His call. And give up their worldly possessions to preach a new message
to all ? For men do not gladly leave family and blindly walk into the night.
To follow a dream that is empty with only a cruel death in sight
If Jesus was not the Messiah the Son who was sent from
above. What gain would He have in deceiving by offering unmerited love
? For some may deceive for their profit and some for the power or fame.
But none seeks a cruel crucifixion with flogging, abasement and pain
If Jesus was not the Messiah with proved resurrection
now past. What brought to His men new conviction that death had not triumphed
at last ? For Jesus was more than a great teacher and more that a very
good man. His life was a sermon in goodness, fulfilling God's glorious
plan !!!
