Episcopalians Install Female Leader With Blessings Said By Rabbi & Muslim Scholar

(Should we call these blessings in Hebrew by a Rabbi and in Arabic by a Muslim Scholar over an Episcopalian leader interfaith blessings? Why bless someone who doesn't believe the same thing that you believe and who doesn't share your same Jewish or Muslim faith?)

The service opened with chants by Paiute, Shoshone, Ute, Sioux and Chippewa drummers. They led a lengthy procession of about 180 bishops and priests into the cathedral at 11 a.m., carrying vessels that burned an incense "prayer offering" of sweetgrass, sage and cedar. Liturgical dancers followed, waving green, red, gold and purple banners and streamers as they escorted a stream of interfaith visitors representing Christian, Buddhist, Jewish and Muslim traditions.
