GUJRAT, JALALPUR JATTAN, PAKISTAN (ANS) -- A 25 year old man converted from Islam to Christianity after his mother was rid of evil spirits a couple of months ago through the prayers of a Christian man in Jalalpur Jattan.

“We took her to almost every hospital and shrine in the country but of no avail. She was miraculously healed after a month’s prayers of Dr. Samuel,” said a newly converted Christian, Mubashir Hameed Butt, a resident of Mohallah Jolian of Jalalpur Jattan while talking to ANS on November 19.
He said one Naseer John introduced him to Jesus Christ while he was in Lahore to meet a Christian man, Yousaf Masih, who he said had promised to send him abroad.

He said Naseer John was sharing a room of a Shaukat Khanum Cancer hospital’s hostel in Lahore with Dr. Samuel’s son.

He told ANS that Samuel’s son, Sunil invited him to watch a film entitled “Jesus Christ.”

He went on to say that he watched part 1 of the film with Sunil and John in Lahore, saying he also studied Quran then. I did comparative study of Islam and Christianity while watching Jesus Christ film, he said.

Mubashir said he came back to his hometown and went to Lahore again in his quest of going abroad “and I watched part II of Jesus Christ film”.

He claimed he again did comparative studies. “At this point I started mulling over becoming a Christian,” he disclosed.

He alleged he paid Pakistani Rs 100,000 ($164.88 USD) to Yousaf Masih but the man could not make arrangements for his going abroad.

Describing the price for seeing his desire to move to a greener pasture realized, Mubashir said Yousaf made him shuttle between Jalalpur Jattan and Lahore for a year.

“Yousaf had also received payments from some 60 families under the pretext of sending them abroad,” he said.

He said he stayed for 2 months in Lahore at one Pastor Bashart’s house. While waiting some good news to be broken by Yousaf, he said he also started studying Bible.

He said after doing Bible study he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and was baptized by Pastor Bashart.

He said his family back at home was worried so they asked him to come back to Jalalpur Jattan and start doing some work.

After his hopes of going abroad dashed to ground the new entrant in the folds of Christianity came back to his hometown carrying a copy of Bible and stayed in touch with Pastor Bashart.

“The disclosure of my conversion to Christianity enraged my family members,” said Mubashir.

It drew further condemnation of my act of conversion as the news traveled to my relatives, he said.

He said his conversion from Islam to Christianity also invited some disputes with the Muslim residents of the area he lives in.

“I ignored them and continued growing in new found faith in Christ.”

He claimed he is called as vulture at the restaurant where he works as a waiter.

“They give me bad names and it reflects the hatred they have for me in their hearts.”

He said he was contented with what God was providing him “whenever I need something I ask of Him and He provides.”

Mubashir is the only son of his parents and has got three sisters.

Responding to a question he said the rest of his family members were still Muslims.

“When any of my family members falls sick I suggest them they better prayed than taking medicines.”
