THE KEY TO REVELATION 17Seven Times pass by for NebuchadnezzarSeven Times pass by for the Kingdom of Babylon MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.Each of the words the fingers inscribed on the wall is a measure of weight (like our ounce, pound, and ton, or milligram, gram, and kilogram). The basic Babylonian unit of weight was the gold shekel (tekel in this verse). The mena equalled 50 shekels; the upharsin (half a mena) equalled 25. The four words, therefore, stood for: mena, 50 shekels; mena, 50 shekels; tekel, 1 shekel; upharsin, 25 shekels. The total equalled 126 shekels.
In addition, each shekel can be divided into even smaller units (as a pound can be divided into ounces, for example). The shekel was equal to 20 gerahs (Ezekiel 45:12). The 126 shekels of Daniel 5:25 is equivalent to 2,520 gerahs.
But what happened to Nebuchadnezzar is symbolic of what will happen to Babylon because Nebuchadnezzar symbolizes Babylon. Nebuchadnezzar was restored to his throne and so in the future will be Babylon.
Babylon fell under Belshazzar in 539 B.C. to the Medo- Persian Empire. After you (NEBUCHADNEZZAR) shall arise another kingdom inferior to you, Nebuchadnezzar is symbolic of the kingdom of Babylon. The kingdom that comes after Nebuchadnezzar is the M/P empire. Nebuchadnezzar is the Head of Gold but the head of gold falls under Belshazzar not Nebuchadnezzar.
Daniel 7 gives descriptions of four beasts with the first one being symbolic of Nebuchadnezzar experience.Nebuchadnezzar:::: Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?
